Incentive Award
General Information
NM MESA students in the 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th grades are able to earn an Incentive Award, to be awarded during their 1st year of college. Up to $1000 can be earned, depending on the amount of effort the student puts into both MESA activity participation and academic achievement. Students must participate in NM MESA both their junior and senior year, in order to qualify to receive any monies.
HIGH SCHOOL INCENTIVE AWARD GUIDELINES
MESA members must complete the following requirements to be eligible for the Incentive Award:
- Submit Parent Permission Form (A-1) and Student Profile Form (A-2).
- Attend a minimum of 15 MESA meetings per school year.
- Participate in a minimum of one MESA service learning activity per school year.
- Participate in a minimum of one field trip or one workshop or one speaker activity.
- Receive a grade of C or better in any math, science or English class taken.
- Complete 4 credits of college preparatory math, science and English upon high school graduation. Click HERE for a list of approved math, science, English and "Other STEM" classes.
- Membership junior and senior years is required for students to receive any monies.

Please note the following:
- Members who do not meet ALL of the incentive award eligibility requirements each year are not eligible for an award for those respective school years.
- Transfers to a non-MESA high school will be considered on an individual basis.
- Member and parent/guardian agree that final authority on Incentive Awards and of the NM MESA program is the sole responsibility of NM MESA, Inc.
- Grades and test scores, etc. are verified using the members’ official high school transcript that is requested after the conclusion of the current school year.
- Students must be able to provide a social security number, green card number, or tax identification number.
- Incentive Awards ARE taxable income and all recipients must submit a completed W9 to MESA before any disbursement of funds can be made.
- Students receiving $600.00 or more of Incentive Award will be issued a 1099 form from MESA.
